The Irish Emigrant - First ever Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada to be held in July

The Irish Emigrant - First ever Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada to be held in July: "The first ever Canadian Irish language Oireachtas will be held in Ontario in July. The three day festival will be held near Erinsville and Tamworth, celebrating the Irish language by showcasing the best of traditional singing, dancing, music, and literature.

This unprecedented event will take place in the only officially organized Gaeltacht outside of Ireland, after a group of dedicated Irish speakers in rural Ontario created the Irish speaking area on the Salmon River. The Gaeltacht is officially recognized by the Irish government and was opened by Irish Ambassador to Canada Declan Kelly in June of 2007. Called Gaeltacht Thuaisceart an Oileáin Úir (The Permanent North American Gaeltacht), the area will play host to a gathering modeled on the Irish Oireachtas na Gaeilge."
